Fibrecrafters
We are a friendly group that meets on a weekly basis, who share our interests in fibre arts and crafts. Techniques include spinning, weaving, felting, knitting, crochet and creative fibre arts. Weaving is also done sometimes, but the group have their own meeting on Thursdays.
We meet at the Art House every Tuesday at 10am. We bring our lunch and the projects that we are working on. The first Tuesday of the month is when we hold our main meeting, where we are updated on the upcoming events and happenings; and have a show and tell session.
We have a great library that members can borrow from. There is also some equipment that members can use as well.
As we are affiliated to the Whakatane Society for Arts and Crafts, we are able to use the Art House rooms for our craft and selling our work.
Most of our members also belong to Creative Fibre (New Zealand Spinning, Weaving and Wool Crafts Society). Through this society, members can access national and international tutors, correspondence courses, workshops, exhibitions and receive the Creative Fibre magazine.
If you are inspired by wool, yarns, felts and fibres and would like to learn some new skills or brush up old skills, please call in and see us.
